Acupuncture Massage Herbs

Sabrina Havens LAc LMT

Sabrina Havens is a board-certified licensed acupuncturist, certified herbalist and licensed massage therapist. She earned her BS/MS in Oriental Medicine from New York College of Health Professions in Syosset, NY. There, she graduated at the top of her class, mentored other students and worked as a pharmacist in their on-site Herbal Dispensary. She earned her undergraduate degree from New York University in 1998. She is also currently working on her Doctorate of Acupuncture from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine. She maintains a thriving practice in Great Neck, NY while raising her two children.

Ms. Havens believes that while there is no substitute for modern medicine in some cases, many aliments can be treated effectively and safely with Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, proper nutrition and lifestyle changes. While Wholism is a New Age term, the philosophies of East Asian Medicine have been used to treat patients wholistically for millennia. It is this approach that Ms. Havens takes in each treatment room. She holds certifications in Japanese Acupuncture, Shonishin (Pediatric Acupressure), TCM Psychology, Gynecology, Facial Rejuvenation, Pain Management and Acupuncture for Labor and Delivery.

Ms.Havens was featured in O the Oprah Magazine in 2016 and 2017 for an ongoing story on weight loss and the journey toward better health. She believes that the struggle for greater health begins with mindfulness, nutrition and deep self love. Her own practices of yoga, meditation, mindful eating and strength training allow her to guide her patients toward a better understanding of their health through her experience.

In addition to acupuncture and massage, other modalities used include:

  • Moxabustion - an herbal heat therapy useful for pain, inflammation and many chronic and acute disorders
  • Cupping - a traditional technique wherein a small suction cup is used on areas of the body
  • Shonishin - a Japanese pediatric technique that uses small tools to painlessly activate acupuncture channels and points for small children and the needlephobic
  • Electric stimulation - used on acupuncture needles to enhance stimulation

As Former Vice-President and current Board member of the Acupuncture Society of New York (ASNY), Ms. Havens works to improve the profession of Acupuncture through activism, legislation and public relations.
